What is African black soap?
African black soap also known as Alata Samina in Twi Ghanaian dialect is an ancient beauty soap which traces its origin in West Africa. This soap is a beauty secret that has been passed down in families for generations.
African women are known for their glowing, flawless, and youthful skin. Often people ask what their secret is, since they live in a sun-drenched environment that can be harsh on the skin. Their secret lies in the use of nature inspired beauty products.
Unlike synthetic soaps, African black soap is handmade of natural plant based ingredients, to keep all its healing properties, and nutrients.
How is it made?
Traditional Handcrafted Recipe
Our African black soap is ethically handmade by traditional methods native to Ghana. The cocoa pod husk which is rich in potash is locally sourced from Tafo, Eastern region of Ghana. This is mixed with natural ingredients in a saponification process to form cocoa soft soap. This exceptional recipe is based on natural Cocoa by products made in exclusive partnership with the Cocoa Research Institute Ghana.

Consists of rich cocoa pod ash from the cocoa fruit. This is rich in anti-oxidants that fights against free radicals & ageing by firming the skin. The cocoa pod ash helps to soothe and treat acne, rashes, rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions.
Contains cocoa butter which is high in fatty acids and hydrates the skin deeply. Also cocoa butter is known to be rich in antioxidants which help in fighting skin ageing, dark patches & dull skin.
Contains raw shea butter which is rich in vitamin E & A, softening the skin making it smooth & supple.
Contains a blend of deeply hydrating natural oils, rich in fatty acids & vitamins further enriching our African black soap

A natural occurring substance which can be found in plants, animals & human organisms. This natural amino acid is obtained from sugar beet molasses. It has moisturising properties which enhance the soap.
